Who this consultation is for

The Annual Well-Child Check is designed for children aged 2 to 13 years and forms part of routine, preventive healthcare throughout childhood.

It’s suitable for:

  • Children who are generally well.

  • Parents wanting reassurance as their child grows.

  • Monitoring development, growth, and wellbeing year by year.

  • Addressing questions around nutrition, sleep, behaviour, and lifestyle.

These visits are nurse-led, with GP oversight to ensure safe and appropriate care.

What to expect during your visit

This appointment focuses on your child’s overall development and wellbeing, while giving space for both parent and child questions.

Your visit includes:

  • Growth monitoring, including height and weight.

  • Review of age-appropriate developmental milestones.

  • Guidance around nutrition, sleep, physical activity, and lifestyle.

  • Time to discuss school, behaviour, or general wellbeing concerns.

  • Reassurance and early identification of any areas that may need closer attention.

If the nurse identifies any medical concerns, your child will be referred to a GP for further assessment and guidance.

Immunisations

When due and clinically appropriate, immunisations can be discussed as part of the visit.

All vaccines administered are:

  • Evidence-based.

  • Aligned with national immunisation guidelines.

  • Given with appropriate counselling and aftercare advice.

Please note that a vaccine administration fee applies, excluding vaccine cost.

When a GP review is needed

If any concerns are identified during the well-child check:

  • The nurse will refer your child to a GP.

  • The GP will provide further assessment and management as needed

  • Additional consultation fees will apply for GP reviews.

This ensures that any issues are addressed promptly and appropriately.
