Well-Baby Checks
— Nurse-led with GP oversight —
Who this consultation is for
Well-Baby Checks are designed for infants and young children during their early developmental stages, and for parents who want reassurance, guidance, and continuity of care.
These visits are ideal for:
Routine developmental monitoring.
New parents seeking reassurance and support.
Checking feeding, sleep, and growth patterns.
Addressing parental questions or concerns early.
They are nurse-led, with GP oversight to ensure safe, comprehensive care.
What to expect during your visit
These appointments focus on your baby’s growth, development, and overall wellbeing, while also supporting you as a parent.
Your visit includes:
Growth tracking, including weight, length/height, and head circumference.
Age-appropriate developmental review.
Guidance around feeding, sleep, routines, and settling.
Time to discuss concerns or questions you may have.
Reassurance and early identification of any issues that may need further review.
The first routine well-baby visit is usually recommended at 2 weeks of age, with follow-up visits as your child grows.
Immunisations
When due and clinically appropriate, immunisations can be discussed as part of the visit.
All vaccines administered are:
Evidence-based.
Aligned with national immunisation guidelines.
Given with appropriate counselling and aftercare advice.
At present, we are awaiting approval to provide state-supplied vaccines. In the interim, vaccine arrangements can be discussed with the practice team.
Why well-baby checks matter
Regular developmental checks help to:
Ensure your baby is growing and developing as expected.
Provide early support if concerns arise.
Build confidence in caring for your baby.
Establish continuity of care from the very beginning.
These visits are as much about supporting parents as they are about monitoring babies.
