The Expertise Behind Your Care.
Dr Tegan Child-Villiers
GP | Child and Family Health
is a family doctor with experience in child health and a strong focus on preventive medicine. She holds an MBChB (with distinction) from the University of Cape Town and a Diploma in Child Health.
Tegan brings a thoughtful, evidence-led approach to every consultation. With a special focus on the first 1000 days, she supports families from pre-conception through pregnancy, newborn care, early childhood development, and beyond. She believes primary care is most effective when families have continuity with a doctor who knows them well - their strengths, their baseline, and their long-term goals.
A lifelong resident of Hout Bay, Tegan established Peak Family Practice to deliver high-quality general practice and child-centred care within the community she calls home. She’s designed the purpose-built medical centre to feel calm, supportive, and family-friendly, reflecting a modern model of care that prioritises time, clarity, and wellbeing.
Outside her clinical role, she is working to expand access to essential services in the valley, including a public-private partnership immunisation clinic within the practice. She is committed to developing a multidisciplinary team united by a clear ethos: excellent care, grounded in meaningful relationships.
Beyond medicine, Tegan is energised by time outdoors with her family, Pilates, and cooking nourishing meals. With extensive travel throughout the African continent, including time in remote communities, she carries a deep appreciation for community resilience and the privilege of accessible healthcare.
Approach to Care:
“I believe good medicine starts with listening. I take the time to understand each patient’s needs and priorities, then provide clear, evidence-based guidance so we can make decisions together. With continuity and trusted support, families feel confident navigating their health at every stage.”
